Going back and re-reading the essays by Michael Rock I tried to pull out one overall theme. Something that kept coming up was how design is always in a state of transition, movement, and flux. It is impossible to define design because it is always changing. There will always be new methods, computer programs, fonts, projects, technologies, and new ways of thinking. I felt that the name Flux was one that appropriately described the act of design as well spoke specifically to each article. These are just some samples of some different font possibilities.
For the shape or format for the books I wanted to use something that involved a lot of movement so I choose an accordian style book. I thought that it would be interesting if you would be able to read the book in classic page by page format, but also open it up and read the essay as a whole, almost like a poster.
Someone mentioned during class that the shape of my publications reminded them of a bookmark, which I thought was interesting. I decided to take advantage of this coincidence and added a removable bookmark at the bottom/ end of my publication.
